We are celebrating International Women’s Day 2023 with another Thoughts Unboxed Podcast. The conversation this year included Rosanna and Shaneek, our delivery managers. Celia, one of our developers. Emily, our Operations Manager and myself, Vicky, People and Wellbeing.
This year’s theme is #EmbraceEquity and we talked about what this means to each of us on both a personal and professional level.
We also took the opportunity to talk about belonging in relation to equity. We know from our own experiences that if we feel we belong somewhere, we feel accepted, valued and respected for who we are as our authentic selves. And in the workplace if we feel a sense of belonging we are going to feel more motivated, perform better and we’re more likely to stay for longer.
It’s a well timed theme for us at Unboxed because back in August 2022 we ran a Belonging Survey with the Honeycomb Works, a consultancy that helps organisations become more inclusive. Happily the results showed us that all the women at Unboxed agree or strongly agree that they feel they belong at Unboxed. We wanted to explore why this is, and what happens at Unboxed for women to feel they belong.
