Welcome to the team: Kate Gleeson

Hello, I’m Kate. This is a bit of a late ‘Welcome’ as I actually joined the team in October 2021.

I was attracted to Unboxed by the diversity of the team, their inspiring projects (past and present), and the emphasis they put on collaborative working.

I’ve been a developer since 2017, when I attended a 12-week coding bootcamp. Before that I worked as a junior doctor in the NHS, and before that I did all kinds of things, including teaching English as a foreign language in China and Spain, WWOOFing, and working as a toyshop assistant.

I decided to give coding a try when a friend said that the challenges are very similar to those of cryptic crosswords (which I love), and I really haven’t looked back since. It still amazes me sometimes that I get paid for doing something I enjoy so much.

In my spare time I’m a dedicated book-worm, and also love travelling to places with lots of sunshine.
